Mental Health Counseling Intern
Alex Johnson
Alex works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. His style is warm, conversational, and direct, with humor when appropriate, helping clients feel comfortable being themselves.
In session, Alex works with clients to better understand their emotional responses, recognize patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop practical skills they can use outside of therapy. He uses a trauma-informed, person-centered approach informed by CBT, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based therapy.
His clinical experience includes work in both California and Massachusetts across PHP and IOP programs, residential mental health treatment, and in-home ABA therapy. He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and is completing his degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Springfield College.
